About the Fundation
Origin and history
The Fundación Terra Termarum Castrolandín was constituted in Cuntis on January 8, 2001. It was declared of Galician interest in March of the same year and its purpose is the integral management, study, protection, and promotion of the Castrolandín archaeological site, as well as the dissemination of the Castro culture and the Romanization process in Galicia.
The Foundation’s Board of Trustees demonstrates its local and independent nature and is composed of representatives from:
- The Cuntis Town Council (O Concello de Cuntis).
- The Castrolandín Mountain Community (A Comunidade de Montes de Castrolandín).
- The Association of Friends of the Castros (A Asociación de Amigos dos Castros).
- And the companies Enerxía de Galicia, S.A. (ENGASA) and TERMAS DE CUNTIS.
The fact that a local foundation like this manages the valorization of a relevant heritage asset is a singular case in Galicia, to the extent that the main social and heritage impact of the Foundation lies in its potential as a demonstrative model for heritage management by the local community in which its entire social fabric is represented.

XX Aniversary
In 2021, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Fundación Terra Termarum, a programme of activities was drawn up to celebrate the two decades of its journey and to recognize all the people who, through their social commitment, made this project possible.
The events were held during the first half of September, starting with a journey through the twenty years of the Foundation’s life, guided by the people who shaped it and succeeded in enhancing the value of the Castrolandín hillfort.
The celebration of this anniversary aimed to show society the impact that the Foundation’s project has on the surrounding area and the benefits it brings to the local tourism sector.
The programme of activities was didactic and explanatory, featuring an exhibition of original objects from the excavations, replicas of ceramics and other archaeological materials, images, illustrations, and texts so that the public could learn firsthand about this pioneering project in Galicia.
