Castreña Pottery Workshop at the Barbanza Archaeological Centre

17/09/26 | Events

From the Terra Termarum Castrolandín Foundation, we would like to invite you to take part in a new Castreña Pottery Workshop, a hands-on activity that will bring us closer to the pottery traditions of the Iron Age and the Castreña culture through clay, shapes and traditional techniques.

The workshop will take place at the Barbanza Archaeological Centre, where we will explore different traditional techniques for pottery modelling and decoration, drawing inspiration from the shapes, finishes and decorative motifs documented in archaeological pottery from the Castreña culture.

Throughout the day, participants will have the opportunity to work directly with clay and gain practical insight into the process of creating a piece of Castreña pottery. Each participant will make their own piece, following the techniques and models used in our Experimental Castreña Pottery Workshop in Castrolandín.

And the experience does not end there. Once the workshop is over, the pieces will subsequently be fired at the Terra Termarum Foundation’s workshop facilities, so that each participant can collect and take home their own creation: a unique piece made with their own hands and inspired by our Castreña heritage.

The activity is specifically aimed at adults and has a limited capacity of 12 participants, allowing us to provide close guidance throughout the process and offer a hands-on and personalised experience.
