On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the Castro de Castrolandín (Cuntis, Galicia, Spain) will become an exceptional setting to witness two of the summer’s most spectacular astronomical events: a partial solar eclipse and the Perseid meteor shower, also known as the Tears of Saint Lawrence.
The partial solar eclipse will begin to be visible at around 7:00 p.m., while observation of the Perseid meteor shower will start from 10:30 p.m. onwards. Throughout the afternoon and evening, visitors will also enjoy live music by the Hai que Roelo Traditional Music and Dance Group. Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and spend a memorable evening in this unique archaeological heritage site.
For greater comfort, visitors are advised to bring warm clothing, a flashlight, and a blanket or something comfortable to sit or lie on while watching the night sky.
To observe the solar eclipse safely, it is essential to use ISO 12312-2 certified eclipse glasses. Never look directly at the Sun without proper eye protection.
