The Galician Network of Living Crafts (Rede Galega de Oficios Vivos), an initiative of the Regional Government of Galicia (Xunta de Galicia), arrives in Cuntis on 19 July with the participation of the Terra Termarum Castrolandín Foundation, showcasing one of the most representative traditional crafts of Galician heritage: Castreña pottery, inspired by the pottery traditions of the Iron Age hillfort communities.
This initiative, promoted by the Regional Ministry of Culture, Language and Youth, begins its programme in Ponteareas and will visit more than 25 municipalities across Galicia until October. The programme aims to revitalise rural areas by preserving, transmitting and promoting traditional crafts, encouraging the exchange of knowledge between generations while highlighting their potential as opportunities for employment and self-employment.
The Castrolandín Hillfort Interpretation Centre, headquarters of the Terra Termarum Foundation, will host one of the programme’s intergenerational volunteering workshops. During the activity, participants will discover the world of Iron Age pottery through the hands-on experience offered by the Castrolandín Castreña Pottery Workshop, learning about the techniques and production processes used by the ancient inhabitants of Galicia’s hillfort settlements.
The workshop will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The programme is aimed primarily at people aged 55 and over and young people between 16 and 35 years old, although adults up to the age of 54 may also participate. Each workshop is limited to 16 participants.

The Castreña pottery workshop is part of a wider programme featuring other traditional crafts, including basket weaving, stone masonry, blacksmithing, woodworking, linen craftsmanship, net making, traditional boatbuilding and traditional cooking, among others. These activities help safeguard Galicia’s intangible cultural heritage, encourage the transmission of traditional knowledge between generations and demonstrate how traditional crafts can contribute to personal and professional development as well as to the revitalisation of rural communities.
