Fundacion Terra Termarum Castrolandin

Origin of the Foundation

The Fundación Terra Termarum Castrolandín was founded in Cuntis in the year 2001 with the mission of protecting, studying, and enhancing the archaeological site of Castrolandín, while also spreading knowledge about the richness of the Castro culture and Romanization in Galicia. It is a unique entity in Galicia, as the local community itself—the City Council (Concello), the Community of Forests (Comunidad de Montes), the Association of Friends of the Castros (Asociación de Amigos dos Castros), and affiliated companies—is leading this project of heritage conservation and promotion.

The Archaeological Site of Castrolandín Hillfort

The Castrolandín hillfort, located just one and a half kilometres from the centre of Cuntis, dates back to the late Iron Age. It is a medium-sized settlement, where around 100 people would have lived during the final phase of the Castro culture.

Today, you can get a close look at it and discover its secrets through guided tours which can be booked in advance, a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in history and better understand the lives of its inhabitants.

Visit the Archaeological Interpretation Centre

In the heart of Cuntis is the Castrolandín Interpretation Centre, the gateway to the archaeological site. An accessible and free space where you will discover the Castro culture through models, panels, ceramic reproductions, and a unique workshop.

A meeting point between history, art, and cultural tourism.
